Counterpoint Market Intelligence is a specialist aerospace and defence market intelligence firm focused on aerospace supply chains. We produce detailed market intelligence reports covering sectors such as aerostructures, aero-engine components, aircraft interiors, actuation systems, sensors, and other aerospace technologies. Our clients include aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, investors, and private equity firms. Alongside our published market reports, we also carry out bespoke consulting projects involving market analysis, competitive intelligence, strategic assessment, and M&A due diligence. We are a specialist team focused entirely on aerospace and defence markets, combining deep industry knowledge with quantitative analysis and modelling.
About the Internship
We are seeking a technically capable and self-motivated intern to help lead the development of an internal data and software project. Much of our market intelligence today exists in highly detailed but largely unstructured formats, including long-form reports, tables, company profiles, and technical market analysis. The successful candidate will work on developing tools and workflows to convert unstructured text into structured datasets using a combination of:
- AI and LLM-based approaches
- APIs and automated workflows
- Traditional software engineering and data processing techniques
The intern will take a leading role in software development work, with guidance and support from the wider Counterpoint team. For candidates interested in aerospace, this is an opportunity to gain direct exposure to the global aerospace supply chain and aerospace market analysis. For candidates interested in AI and software engineering, this is an opportunity to work on a real-world data structuring and automation challenge with meaningful commercial applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop software tools and workflows for structuring market intelligence data
- Work with unstructured text, tabular data, and technical market datasets
- Explore and implement AI-assisted extraction and classification approaches
- Work with APIs, databases, and automation pipelines
- Support internal tooling and data management initiatives
- Collaborate with the wider Counterpoint team to understand industry and data requirements
Requirements
Essential
- Strong Python programming skills
- Completed or working towards a degree in a STEM field
- Ability to demonstrate previous programming work/projects during interview process
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently on technical challenges
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience working with APIs
- Experience with LLM APIs or AI tooling
- Experience with databases or cloud platforms
- Knowledge of AWS
- Interest in data engineering, automation, or AI systems
- Interest in aerospace and defence markets
Strong Plus
- Prior knowledge of the aerospace industry, aerospace engineering, airlines, defence, manufacturing, or supply chains
