Overview

In Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), we continuously seek ways to improve effectiveness on a national level.

As a Performance Analyst, you will play a central role within the Strategy, Planning and Performance (SPP) team, helping to shape CTP’s strategic direction, deliver performance insights, and drive governance across the network.

Operating from New Scotland Yard and the Centre for Textual Operations (CTOC) in West Brompton, the SPP Directorate works closely with CTP colleagues, senior leaders, partners, government and international stakeholders to ensure the UK’s counter‑terrorism strategy is delivered effectively.

Role Description

You will provide performance reporting and analytical support for multiple national capabilities, working with external partners such as other police forces, the UK Intelligence Community, and cross‑government departments.

Your analyses will inform senior decision‑making and help optimise network performance.

  • Support Higher Performance Analysts in evaluating how the UK Counter Terrorism Policing Network delivers expected services.
  • Use analytical findings to identify trends, forecast implications, and highlight areas of strong or weak performance for senior stakeholders.
  • Analyze performance data with IT tools, particularly Excel, and produce mandatory reports.
  • Create clear, concise reports that aid decision‑making at ministerial and senior leadership levels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders across the counter‑terrorism network.
  • Develop and assess meaningful indicators and assessments in collaboration with senior managers and subject‑matter experts.
  • Create and maintain robust processes for data receipt, storage, and organization to enable effective analysis.
  • Conduct data and information audits to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
  • Design and implement data collection and collation strategies for multiple and disparate groups.
  • Ensure products and documentation meet MPS policies, FOIA, and the Data Protection Act.
  • Manage customer relationships and reporting requests, including ad‑hoc and regular deliverables.
  • Manage own workload and appropriately escalates requests within the team.
  • Be willing to travel and work flexibly across London locations, mainly Thames House, New Scotland Yard, and Empress State Building.

This post requires access to highly sensitive intelligence.

Applicants must hold, or be prepared to undergo, National Security Vetting (NSV) – Developed Vetting (DV) level before appointment.

Only British nationals (some dual nationals may be ineligible) are eligible, and a DV clearance is required.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated high‑level experience in complex analytical roles.

  • Ability to build and sustain working relationships across professional and operational boundaries.
  • Strong IT skills, including data visualisation and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

  • Graduate or professional qualification in statistics, analytics, social science, business management, or related discipline, with experience in quantitative and/or qualitative analysis.
