Counter Terrorism Policing – East Midlands (CTP-EM) are looking for a dynamic and high performing Senior Ports Officer & Regional Coordinator based at East Midlands Airport to provide effective leadership, supervising the work of Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands Ports Officers and Staff.

In this role you will work as part of the national Counter Terrorism Policing network to keep people safe by preventing, deterring, and investigating terrorist and extremist activity.

What you'll be doing:

  • Evaluating, authorising and reviewing proposed operations
  • Quality Assuring the use of Border specific policing powers
  • Conducting intelligence driven briefing, tasking and debriefing

Responsibilities:

  • To supervise the work of Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands (CTPEM) Ports Officers and Staff, ensuring effective deployment, tasking and activity in line with legislative, policy and strategic requirements.
  • To develop and sustain productive working relationships with key partners to maximise opportunities to progress terrorist investigations and tackle the illegal movement of money, people or goods through our borders.
  • To evaluate, authorise and review proposed operations ensuring that they are ethical, comply with legislation, policy and procedures and meet best practice.
  • To Quality Assure the use of Border specific policing powers, specifically Schedule 7 of TACT (Terrorism Act 2000). This assurance to include proportionate and justified use of the power, compliance with the codes of practice for selection of persons subject to examination, appropriate and lawful use of screening within published legal advice. For police officers this will include undertaking the role of Review Officer.
  • Ensure appropriate use of digital device examination and baggage searches during examinations.
  • Conduct intelligence driven briefing, tasking and debriefing appropriate to the duties being performed and in accordance with organisational policy.
  • Deputise for Regional Senior Ports Officer (RSPO) as required, including making appropriate decisions in line with local strategy and escalating to CTPEM Senior Leadership Team any risks or issues required.
  • Monitor all aspects of Health and Safety within the workplace in accordance with legislation and organisational policy, and take the appropriate measures to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of self, staff and others.
  • Promote equality, diversity and Human Rights in working practices by developing and maintaining positive working relationships, ensuring that colleagues are treated fairly and contributing to developing equality of opportunity in working practices.
  • To act as a communications conduit between the local and national layers of the CT Border policing network by managing National to Regional to Local Force NCTPHQ/NCTBOC strategic and tactical communications.
  • Provide briefing to RSPO on Regional Performance using Performance Dashboards and Daily log information. Ensure that the information is presented in a clear and impactful way that meets the required standards. This information can then be fed into the regional meeting structure.
  • To provide oversight and ensure delivery to the requirements set within the National CTP-Borders Performance and Compliance Frameworks.
