For Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), delivering projects is not just about delivering improvements. CTP’s mission is, ‘To apply our network of specialist police capabilities proportionately, alongside UK police forces and partners, to protect the UK and the public from terrorism and other national security threats’. As a critical component of our Change capability, the Business Design Team supports a portfolio of projects and programmes that will ultimately help better protect our country.

The Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) Business Design Team has an exciting opportunity to help lead the delivery of our portfolio of change across the CTP network. Joining our highly skilled, highly regarded and passionate Business Design team, we’re looking for a Head of Business Design to lead the team that turns strategic ideas into real operational improvements for how our organisation works.

Working collaboratively with our business units and capabilities, and with our partners, you will lead work that critically analyses organisational problems, challenges and risks, to produce evidence-based, soundly appraised, smart, practical and creative solutions that improve our end operational effect and mission success. It’s your chance to play a part in a challenge that’s as important as it gets: protecting the UK and its communities.

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic team leader with expert knowledge and lead practitioner experience of the theory and practical application of business and service design. As the Head of Business Design, you will lead a community of forward-thinking problem solvers to leverage new technologies, varied datasets, and specialist operational knowledge to develop evidence-based solutions to some of CTP’s most complex challenges.

You will be the centre of expertise for operating model development for CTP; supporting the programmes and projects within the portfolio to deliver change, optimise the realisation of operationally focused benefits, and meet strategic objectives. You’ll develop and maintain key relationships with senior stakeholders from across the public sector, playing a pivotal role in reacting to and reshaping the country’s CT approach.

You will be an integral part of the Change Pillar Senior Leadership Team, contributing to management decisions and development activities, helping to foster, grow and support change delivery across the CTP network.

You will have a varied role, where no two days are the same. You will join and lead a hybrid, mixed workforce team with a good understanding of business design development and delivery, but you will also have opportunities and support to hone your leadership, technical, and personal skills still further.

CTP aims to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere and culture and an environment where all our people feel a strong sense of belonging and are well supported to reach their full potential. We feel that any group or individual will be respected, supported and valued to fully participate and contribute to our mission of “to protect the UK and the public from terrorism and other national security threats”.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to and participate in our numerous WIDE (Wellbeing, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equality) activities and projects. With our commitment to creating an inclusive working environment, we welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working arrangements including part-time working or job share.

We believe we offer fascinating roles at the heart of protecting the UK public. As part of our team, you can expect a range of benefits as well as the chance to develop. Some of these benefits include ‘flexi time’ (TOIL), flexible working, training courses, generous annual leave allowance, impressive pension and many more!
