Join one of the UK's leading contemporary print publishers.

For over twenty‑five years, Counter Editions has collaborated with many of today's leading contemporary artists to produce museum‑quality limited editions. Working across lithography, screenprint, woodcut and other traditional printmaking techniques, we publish editions that are held in public and private collections around the world.

Today, Counter Editions is more than a publisher. It is one of the leading online destinations for contemporary artist editions, connecting collectors across the world with exceptional works by internationally recognised artists.

Based at our headquarters in Margate, this is an opportunity to become part of a small, ambitious team with an international reputation for excellence.

We're looking for an Editions Manager to play a central role in the day‑to‑day running and continued growth of Counter Editions. This is a varied position that combines project coordination, artist liaison, production, e‑commerce, publishing, marketing and customer relationships.

You’ll help guide every edition from its earliest stages in the print studio through to online launch, publication and delivery to collectors around the world.

No two days are ever quite the same.

More importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us. Counter Editions is entering an exciting new phase of development, and we see this role evolving alongside the business.

The Role

Publishing New Editions

Every edition has a story.

Working closely with artists and the wider team, you’ll help shape how each new edition is presented to collectors, ensuring every release reflects the quality and ambition of the artists we publish.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating edition launches from production through to release.
  • Creating engaging marketing campaigns and launch communications.
  • Developing social media content.
  • Documenting artist visits and the printmaking process.
  • Helping tell the story behind each edition through words, images and video.

Working with Artists

You’ll work directly with internationally recognised artists throughout the production process.

From proofing and signing through to publication, you’ll coordinate every stage while building strong working relationships with artists, studios and printers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating production schedules.
  • Managing proof deliveries and returns.
  • Organising artist signing sessions.
  • Liaising with artists, studios and printmakers.
  • Helping ensure projects progress smoothly and efficiently.

E‑Commerce & Digital Publishing

Counter Editions is a digitally‑led publishing business, with our website at the heart of how collectors discover and acquire editions.

You’ll play a key role in growing and maintaining our online presence, ensuring every edition is presented to the highest possible standard while continually improving the customer experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing new edition launches across the Counter Editions website.
  • Preparing product pages, artwork information and imagery.
  • Coordinating content across Magento, Mailchimp and social media.
  • Helping optimise the customer journey and online sales experience.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the quality and accuracy of website content.
  • Working with our developers to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Helping analyse launches and identify opportunities to grow online sales.

Editions Operations

Accuracy, organisation and attention to detail are fundamental to Counter Editions.

You’ll oversee the smooth running of our editions database and inventory, ensuring every artwork can be confidently tracked from production through to sale.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining our FileMaker database.
  • Managing edition inventory and stock records.
  • Coordinating dispatch with our warehouse team.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation throughout the publishing process.
  • Supporting the ongoing availability and presentation of editions.

Working with Collectors

As one of the first points of contact for Counter Editions, you’ll provide a knowledgeable, professional and welcoming experience for collectors around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to enquiries by email and telephone.
  • Welcoming visitors wishing to view editions.
  • Supporting sales enquiries.
  • Coordinating framing and shipping.
  • Building lasting relationships with collectors.

Working Across the Business

Counter Editions and Carl Freedman Gallery operate side by side from our Margate headquarters. You’ll work closely with colleagues across both businesses, gaining a unique insight into contemporary art publishing, commercial galleries and the wider art world while contributing wherever required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys making things happen.

You’ll probably recognise yourself in many of the following qualities:

  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A confident communicator.
  • Curious, proactive and resourceful.
  • Someone who enjoys solving problems.
  • Someone who takes satisfaction in bringing order to complexity.
  • Someone who enjoys working as part of a small, collaborative team.
  • Someone with a genuine interest in contemporary art and visual culture.

Experience in a gallery, publisher, museum, arts organisation or another creative environment would be an advantage, but we are equally interested in candidates with transferable organisational and project coordination skills.

Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, Magento, Mailchimp, databases or e‑commerce platforms would be welcomed, although training will be provided where required.
