An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a new Duty Crew/Fire Fighter at St. Mary’s Airport who, as part of a team, will carry out rescue, firefighting and ancillary duties (including baggage handling) to ensure the safe operation of the Airport. Full training will be given. The successful applicant will need to attend an initial training course on the mainland from the 5th October 2026 for a period of 5 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out rescue, firefighting and ancillary duties, including baggage handling.

Qualifications:

  • Appointment in this role is subject to possession of a Current Full UK driving licence or obtaining a Full UK Driving Licence within 12 months of commencement of the role.
  • The interview process will include a fitness test.
  • Right to work in the UK must be provided by all applicants prior to interview.
  • This role requires on-site working at St. Mary’s Airport; travel arrangements or accommodation must be in place on the islands to enable you to meet this essential requirement.

  • Hourly hours: This role averages 32.7 hours per week but will work 37 hours per week from March to October inclusive and 24 hours per week from November to February inclusive.
