About the Role
As a Construction Electrician Instructor (Electrical Trades Instructor), you will provide classroom and hands-on lab instruction in core electrical concepts and construction trade practices. You will teach students across topics including:
- Basic electricity
- Electrical wiring methods
- Electric services
- Conduit installation methods
- Motor principles
- Electrical controls
- Life safety systems
- Construction safety practices
This role combines technical expertise, mentorship, and hands-on instruction to prepare students for successful careers in the electrical and construction trades industry.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am - 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach electrical trades classes on a regularly scheduled basis
- Create a welcoming and engaging learning environment for students
- Deliver hands-on instruction in classroom and lab settings
- Assist with curriculum development and course material preparation
- Maintain classroom tools, lab equipment, and instructional materials
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
- Submit evaluations, reports, and required documentation on time
- Support student retention and academic success initiatives
- Participate in instructor training, faculty meetings, and professional development
- Assist with equipment and supply inventory management
- Communicate student attendance concerns and performance issues to leadership
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Vocational, technical, or construction-related training preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the electrical or construction trades field
- Experience as a Construction Electrician, Commercial Electrician, Industrial Electrician, or Electrical Technician preferred
- Previous vocational training or teaching experience is a plus
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and construction safety
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven educational environment
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
- CampusNexus experience is a plus to support occasional evening, weekend, or travel requirements
Certifications & Licenses:
- OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification within 6 months of hire
- CPR Certification current or obtained within 3 months of hire
- NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Certification within 6 months of hire
