Location: Ipswich, Suffolk

Salary: £14 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:30pm

Friday: 7:30am – 2:00pm

About the Role:

We are looking for a hands-on and reliable Assembly / Workshop Operative to support both the Secondary DIY Glazing (SDIY) unit and the main workshop facility. This is a varied role involving assembly, manufacturing support, order fulfilment, packing, and despatch. You’ll be involved in the full production process, helping ensure products are completed efficiently, accurately, and to a high standard, with an opportunity to train and progress into an Extrusion Operative role over time. The role would suit someone practical, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced workshop environment both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut materials, assemble products, and prepare finished goods for despatch
  • Pick, pack, and process customer orders using courier systems
  • Carry out workshop operations including cutting, drilling, trimming, and finishing
  • Operate extrusion and ancillary equipment when required
  • Maintain stock levels, minimise waste, and ensure high housekeeping standards
  • Follow quality procedures to ensure products meet company standards
  • Support production across departments during busy periods

Requirements:

  • Practical and hands-on with the ability to carry out manual tasks
  • Previous experience in a warehouse/workshop environment
  • Demonstrated an ability of manual working with hands – good dexterity
  • Demonstrates stability and loyalty
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Provide holiday and absence cover across production areas as needed
  • Support shift cover if required, including production – hours may be different when covering different shift patterns
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Flexible and team-oriented approach to work
  • Willingness to learn new skills across assembly, production, and despatch functions

  • The successful candidate will also need to be physically capable of lifting 25kgs at a time, in line with safe lifting regulations
