Who are Cotton Traders? CT for short, we are a clothing retailer established in 1987 by England rugby captains and legends Fran Cotton and Steve Smith. Supported by a growing online and offline (catalogue) presence, we have 80 stores nationwide in England, Scotland and Wales and employ 800 people across the country. We have an ambitious 5-year plan to grow the business across all touch points and we can only do this with the best people around us.
Primary Objective: To support the delivery of sales, profitability, and brand visibility across Cotton Traders’ third-party online marketplaces through accurate product management, daily trading support, and operational excellence. The role helps drive growth across partners including Next, Matalan, Debenhams, Freemans, and George, while supporting the onboarding of new opportunities where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketplace Support & Trading Execution: Support the day-to-day trading of Cotton Traders’ product ranges across multiple marketplace partners. Ensure product listings, pricing, categorisation, stock availability and promotional activity are accurate and up to date. Work closely with the Head of Marketplace to understand platform requirements and contribute to ongoing trading improvements. Monitor competitor listings, marketplace trends and product rankings to highlight opportunities and risks. Assist with the execution of trading tactics that enhance visibility and conversion.
- Onboarding & Partner Setup: Support the onboarding process for new marketplace partners and channels. Collaborate cross-functionally with Buying, Merchandising, IT, Finance, Creative, and Marketing to set up new products correctly. Upload product data, imagery, attributes, size information and enriched content in line with each partner’s requirements. Help manage seasonal launches, range changes and delists throughout the trading calendar. Ensure all product content is accurate and contributes to strong discoverability and conversion.
- Product Listings, Content & Accuracy: Maintain product listings across marketplaces, ensuring all data is correct, consistent and compliant. Support imagery, copy, product attributes and size-guide updates as required. Apply SEO considerations to strengthen organic visibility within partner platforms. Work with creative and internal teams to ensure Cotton Traders’ brand values are reflected in all product content.
- Trading Support & Promotional Execution: Assist in delivering marketplace promotions, seasonal campaigns and onsite visibility opportunities. Maintain promotional pricing accuracy, ensuring start/end dates and discount mechanics are correctly applied. Work with partners and internal stakeholders to ensure all campaign assets are delivered on time. Provide administrative support for paid activity and advertising where needed.
- Inventory, Operations & Compliance: Support stock-related tasks including availability checks, replenishment communication and product suppression fixes. Assist with troubleshooting operational or listing issues such as data mismatches, compliance errors or missing attributes. Help maintain pricing consistency across all platforms in line with Cotton Traders’ trading principles.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Assist with weekly and daily reporting across partners, categories and product lines. Monitor KPIs such as sales, returns, conversion rate, availability and ranking. Flag trading highlights, risks or anomalies to the Head of Marketplace promptly. Provide accurate information to support range planning, buying decisions and trading meetings.
- Customer Experience & Brand Representation: Support review monitoring, Q&A management and customer-facing marketplace content. Highlight recurring issues or opportunities for improvement to the Head of Marketplace. Ensure Cotton Traders’ brand tone, information and presentation remain consistent across all partners.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience working with online marketplaces or ecommerce operations (fashion/apparel preferred).
- Strong administrative accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with large product datasets and content management systems.
- Good Excel skills and confidence analysing basic performance metrics.
- Highly organised, reliable and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Curious, willing to learn, and proactive in developing marketplace knowledge.
