The Head of Project Management is responsible for leading and managing the Project Management function within CEG’s commercial division. This role will ensure the successful delivery of all projects through structured governance, people leadership, programme oversight, and continuous process improvement. You will oversee a team of Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, to budget, and to the highest quality and in compliance with relevant standards. You will work collaboratively with internal departments including engineering, design and commercial, as well as with external stakeholders and clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to a team of Project Managers, creating a high-performance culture.
- Ensure consistent application of project management processes, reporting structures, and risk controls across all projects.
- Act as the escalation point for complex project issues and support Project Managers with stakeholder engagement and commercial negotiations.
- Monitor overall project performance across the portfolio, intervening as needed to ensure delivery against key KPIs: cost, time, quality, H&S, and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with engineering, commercial and design teams to ensure seamless project lifecycle management from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
- Lead internal project review meetings and ensure accurate forecasting, progress reporting and contract administration.
- Support the continual improvement of project delivery systems and documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance, upholding company policies, procedures and statutory regulations.
- Contribute to the strategic planning of delivery capabilities to support business growth and expansion of the commercial portfolio.
Requirements
- Leadership – Proven experience leading a project management function or senior project delivery team.
- Project Controls – Strong ability to implement and manage PM processes, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
- Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication, with confidence in engaging senior stakeholders and clients.
- Commercial Acumen – Understanding of commercial contracts (JCT/NEC), cost management and change control processes.
- Problem Solving – Adept at resolving challenges under pressure and applying practical solutions.
- Technical Understanding – Broad understanding of renewable systems and construction methodologies.
- Team Development – Experience in mentoring and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to bring people along on the journey.
- Organisation – Highly organised with strong time management and ability to prioritise across multiple projects.
- Adaptability – Capacity to adapt to the changing market conditions and internal dynamics of the teams.
