We are seeking a reliable and experienced Drainage Engineer to join our growing Reactive Drainage team. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending reactive drainage works for residential, commercial, and industrial clients, carrying out drainage investigations, resolving blockages, completing CCTV inspections, smoke testing, and delivering effective drainage solutions.
This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive individual with a strong understanding of drainage systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to safely operate specialist drainage equipment. The role is focused on delivering reactive works efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend reactive drainage callouts and emergency works
- Investigate and clear blocked drains, stacks, gullies, toilets, sinks, and pipework
- Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clear and maintain drainage systems
- Carry out CCTV drainage inspections and surveys using specialist equipment
- Identify and diagnose drainage issues including blockages, collapses, root ingress, and structural defects
- Carry out smoke testing to identify defects and drainage issues
- Use tracing and locating equipment to identify drains and underground pipework
- Complete root cutting and minor drainage maintenance works where required
- Provide accurate findings, recommendations, and feedback following investigations
- Complete job sheets, reports, CCTV records, and digital paperwork accurately and on time
- Liaise professionally with customers, site managers, and office staff
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and health & safety requirements
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, drainage equipment, and CCTV systems
- Assist with drainage repairs and maintenance works when required
- Participate in emergency call-out rotas and out-of-hours work where applicable
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience within reactive drainage or drainage engineering
- Good knowledge of drainage systems and underground pipework
- Experience clearing blockages and carrying out drainage investigations
- Experience using CCTV inspection equipment
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Understanding of health & safety procedures
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and outdoors in all weather conditions
