We are currently recruiting for a Civil / Infrastructure Engineer for an excellent permanent role in Manchester. Our client is a multi-disciplinary consultancy with 20 offices worldwide and 800+ staff. They work on large projects, mainly in the Commercial, Healthcare, Residential and Retail sectors.
The Team
This companies Critical Systems Team's mission is to play a key role in making CS Facilities more energy efficient, sustainable and cost effective to operate- and they pride themselves on their exemplary track record of designing innovative and sustainable mechanical and electrical solutions, that minimise the use of natural resources.
The Role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and client focused Electrical Engineering expert to join their expert team at their London office to play a leading role in ensuring the successful delivery of innovative electrical design solutions for some of the most exciting building projects in the UK and internationally. With a main focus on the Critical Systems field, and additional opportunities to contribute across a variety of sectors, you will lead a team of junior engineers and BIM technicians, and work closely with colleagues of various disciplines to manage the delivery of technically-excellent, profitable projects.
The Skills
Educated to Master's degree level in Electrical Engineering or a Chartered Electrical Engineer (MEng equivalent), you have a passion for accurate design of power systems. You should have already gained substantial experience in an Electrical Engineering role, preferably in a data centre/critical systems context. You will have working experience of detailed co-ordination with other design disciplines, specifically Mechanical Services and CSA elements.
Already well versed in the theory behind and use of relevant design software including Amtech, Etap or SKM power systems analysis software, you will have a proven ability in planning and designing Power Distribution diagrams (SLD) in line with Detailed Load Assessments. You will have experience in preparing specifications and project reports whilst being able to perform Protective Devices Discrimination and Arc Flash Studies.
You will have a proven ability in detailed design of Earthing Systems and of Cabling Containment Systems. Redundancy, Resilience and Availability in electrical systems for mission critical installations (including UPS and standby generator) HV design and installation (above 20kV) LV and HV switchboards design Power distribution installations in Critical Facilities IEEE, NFPA and FMG Standards.
Given the collaborative and client focused nature of this role, excellent communication and project management skills are essential.
