As Subject Leader of Health and Social Care, Child Development, you will play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum planning, assessment, and high-quality teaching across Key Stages.
- Model excellent practice through your own teaching.
- Support the Faculty Leader with the effective day to day operation of the Faculty.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and maintain specialist equipment.
- Use data effectively to monitor progress and secure strong outcomes for all learners.
- Promote equality, inclusion, and high expectations across the subject.
- Support, hold accountable, lead, manage and develop Faculty staff.
This role combines leadership, innovation, and handsâon teaching - perfect for someone ready to make a measurable impact. The Social Sciences Faculty encompasses Business, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, EPQ, Health and Social Care and Child Development. The faculty also offers a Year 12 Foundation programme of Level 2 Business Administration and Level 2 Social Sciences. We are a team of nine teachers, led by a Faculty Leader, Deputy Faculty Leader and Assistant Faculty Leader. The Social Sciences faculty is based in the P16 Centre at Charnwood House and is a friendly, high-performing team. CNAT Child Development and Pearson AAQ Health and Social Care are prominent and popular subjects within the school, with a good track record for success. We are wellâresourced and have three RealCare interactive babies, along with an exciting store cupboard full of play and care equipment. Students have access to the latest text books and we have a good bank of lesson resources. Lessons are taught in computer rooms.
Additional Responsibilities
- Deliver effective lessons and secure strong outcomes across the ability range at Key Stages 4 and 5 whilst being a dynamic and motivating classroom practitioner.
- Work as an innovative team player and be prepared to go the extra mile for our young people.
- Be committed to continuous professional development leading to excellent pedagogical practice and teaching outcomes.
- Bring the curriculum to life whilst teaching inclusively and building strong valueâbased relationships with students.
- Experience of teaching one of those subjects is desirable. The ability to teach another subject in the Social Sciences faculty is essential.
Salary and Hours
MPS + TLR 2a (ÂŁ3,577) Permanent Cotham School Salary: MPS + TLR 2a (ÂŁ3,577) Hours: Permanent 0.75 - 0.80 FTE. Probation period: This role is subject to passing a satisfactory probation period.
