The Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading UK main contractor, renowned for delivering high-profile, complex projects across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, and infrastructure. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are seeking an experienced Senior Pre-Construction Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping and securing future projects. This is a strategic position where you will lead the pre-construction function on major bids, some in excess of £100m, working closely with clients, consultants, and internal delivery teams to develop winning solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full pre‑construction lifecycle from initial enquiry through to contract award
- Oversee bid strategy, programme development, and cost planning in collaboration with estimating teams
- Engage with clients to understand key drivers, ensuring tailored and competitive submissions
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design, commercial, and operational stakeholders
- Drive innovation, value engineering, and risk management throughout the bid process
- Mentor and develop junior members of the pre‑construction team
- Ensure governance, compliance, and quality standards are consistently met
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior pre‑construction or bid leadership role within a main contractor
- Strong track record of winning and delivering large-scale projects (£50m - £100m+)
- Excellent commercial awareness and technical understanding of construction methodologies
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to lead, influence, and inspire teams in a fast‑paced environment
