Are you a skilled Quality Engineer wanting to be a part of a hard working and dedicated team? Cosworth is seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to support our Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC) Quality team on a permanent, full-time basis. Based in Northampton, you will provide support to the company’s Quality, Production and Engineering functions whilst also being part of the customer interface.

The Role

  • Ownership of internal quality issues and resolution with known Quality tools, in a timely manner.
  • Data collection, collation, and development of improvement activities.
  • Definition of inspection criteria.
  • Lineside quality improvement activities such as defect disposition analysis, scrap and rework analysis, as well as general improvement projects.
  • Data driven improvement activities in response to internal quality gate findings including conducting root cause analysis, countermeasure implementation and auditing.
  • Management of internal quality KPIs and metrics – development of improvement plans.
  • Conducting internal quarantine and scrap reviews.
  • Assisting in external Quality activities where needed (significant overlap with customer impact issues).
  • Planning and Managing APQP and PPAP activities, including the PPAP tracker.
  • Raising and management of concessions and the concession system.
  • Process and Product Auditing and improvement activities.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in aluminium CNC machining.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Basic knowledge of Aluminium casting processes.
  • Strong Practical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in automotive PPAPs / APQP.
  • Experience of using Quality tools (8D, 5Why, Ishikawa, etc.)
  • Experience in a customer facing role.
  • Some experience of Process Audits.
  • Good time management.
  • Knowledge of visual management techniques.
  • Experience of manufacturing metrology equipment including CMMs.
  • Experience in the use of handheld gauging equipment.
  • Working understanding of statistical analysis tools such as Gauge R&Rs, Capability analyses and comparison tests etc.
