As a Tool Stores Technician at Cosworth, you will play a key role in keeping our machine shop running efficiently and ensuring the shop floor has the tools it needs to perform at its best. You’ll monitor tooling usage through our internal system, work with suppliers and purchasing to manage costs, and coordinate repairs or replacements as required. The role also involves assembling and inspecting tooling for production, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with engineering teams to support tooling performance and continuous improvement.

The Role:

  • Oversee the machine shop tool stores.
  • Monitor tool & consumable usage to maintain optimum stock levels for production on our tool management system (TDM).
  • Liaise with purchasing & tooling suppliers to reduce tooling costs and obtain alternative options.
  • Work with Production Engineering & Design to offer performance solutions for tooling issues.
  • Organise replacement and regrind of tooling & monitor cost savings.
  • Assemble tools for Shop Floor Machine Tools as per job pack.
  • Measure tool assemblies accurately & update any changes required.
  • Raise purchase requisitions using SAP for tools & consumables.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:

  • In depth knowledge of machine tooling, backends & cutting technology.
  • Knowledge of tool assembly & measuring equipment such as Zoller.
  • Basic numerical and computer skills, including previous use of SAP.
  • Ability to carry out tool geometry inspection.
  • Committed and enthusiastic to promote forward thinking & change.
  • Manual milling and turning experience preferred.

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 07:00 to 16:00
Friday: 07:00 to 15:00
