The Manufacturing Quality Lead is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of Quality activities within our Components Manufacturing facility, ensuring that products, processes and manufacturing activities are completed in accordance with the required quality standards. The role provides leadership and support to the Manufacturing Quality team, working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and other key stakeholders to identify and resolve quality issues, drive continuous improvement and ensure effective quality controls are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.

The Role:

  • Ensure the quality requirements for prototype projects are effectively planned and delivered in line with the required timing plan, including the development of measurement strategies, creation of CMM programmes, completion of gauging and inspection instructions, and fulfilment of customer-specific requirements.
  • Support and develop the team of Quality Engineers, assist them in planning their time and priorities and identify and address training needs and skill gaps.
  • Identify and communicate any resource or timing issues within the department.
  • Assist team members in analysing measurement results and work with Engineering teams to address non-conformances, identify root cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Assist NPI team in development of APQP activities in line with Cosworth processes and ensure the Quality team are engaged with the APQP process as required.
  • Exchange detailed information with Engineering and Manufacturing teams regarding internal quality concerns.
  • Support the contract review process for new orders within the department.
  • Take part in 8D problem solving teams to resolve customer concerns and address systemic issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in conjunction with Manufacturing management.
  • Ensure Manufacturing teams are operating in line with ISO9001 / AS9100 quality system requirements.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:

  • Skilled in PC-DMIS CMM programming.
  • Relevant education in an engineering discipline and work-related experience within a CNC machining environment.
  • Understanding of core products and processes for engine component manufacture.
  • Team management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of roles across the organisation.
  • Good time management with an ability to plan and prioritise work.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015 – knowledge of AS9100 Rev D an advantage.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative approach by working openly with others to achieve overall customer satisfaction.
  • Good PC skills; experience of Visual IPI is required.
