The predicted salary is between 35000 - 40000 £ per year.

As a Hard Gauge Technician, you will carry out inline inspection of Powertrain components within our Advanced Manufacturing Centre. Using a range of precision measuring equipment, you will ensure components meet engineering specifications, identify non-conformances, and work closely with Production and Engineering to maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement.

The Role:

  • Carry out inline inspection of manufactured engine blocks, cylinder heads and other Powertrain components in line with engineering requirements.
  • Use a range of precision measuring equipment, including digital calipers, micrometers, air gauges, thread gauges, plug gauges, Rok-It gauges and a Mahr contour tracer.
  • Complete inspections accurately and within the required timescales to support production.
  • Identify, report and escalate any quality concerns or non-conformances to Production and Engineering teams.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering to support investigation and resolution of quality issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and 5S activities within the department.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure compliance with quality procedures.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment and interpreting measurement results.
  • Strong attention to detail with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A positive, flexible approach and willingness to work as part of an integrated team.
  • An engineering apprenticeship is desirable.
  • An understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T would be advantageous.
  • Experience within metrology or operating a CMM would be beneficial.
