We are currently looking to transfer our existing portfolio of Mitutoyo programs within our piston shop over to Zeiss Calypso and need an experienced Mitutoyo CMM programmer/Metrologist to aid in this transition. Ideally, someone with piston knowledge and Zeiss experience or willing to undergo training.
You will be working within a precision engineering environment. The Metrology Engineer / CMM Programmer will also be responsible for writing, developing and proving out measurement programmes on all prismatic parts, cams and cranks, as well as hands-on inspection using various tools from Mahr surface finish and form tracing equipment to micrometres and attribute gauges.
The Role:- Support the Mitutoyo CMM with the piston shop business.
- Produce Dimensional First Article and ISIR reports.
- Aid in the migration of programs from Mitutoyo to Zeiss.
- Support ongoing and new projects (NPI).
- Support production with any and all measurement issues.
- Liaise between departments on new product introduction.
- Lead and support metrology investigations (non-conformances).
- Report capability and reduce measurement tasks.
- Suggest and support corrective actions and measures with the aim of improved product accuracy and compliance.
- Mentor, train and advise the wider Metrology team.
Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities. Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:- Mitutoyo experience (Mcosmos 3.4).
- Understanding of pistons (advantageous).
- Experienced in GD&T and engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of surface texture and profile.
- Zeiss Calypso experience or willing to train.
- Experienced in base metrology (Measurement by First Principles).
- Understanding of AS9100 & ISO9001.
- MSA and Gauge R&R.
