We are currently recruiting for start dates throughout the year, with options including April, July and September. Additional start dates may also be available and you will be asked to state your availability on your application form. The majority of new recruits will be based at our Global Headquarters in Cambridge, with a small number of opportunities available at our London office.

Overview

Opportunities for Senior Medical Writers. Senior Medical Writers take a leading role across projects within our Publications Division, delivering high-standard work to agreed timelines. They provide strategic advice to clients at project initiation, supervise the project team and regularly interact with clients. They are central to quality control, reviewing colleagues' work and providing constructive feedback. They also contribute to business development by developing and maintaining excellent client relationships and identifying opportunities to provide additional services within projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead across projects within the Publications Division to ensure high-quality delivery aligned with timelines.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients at project initiation and supervise project teams.
  • Review colleagues' work and deliver constructive feedback to maintain quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services within projects.
  • Collaborate with the Publications team on strategic publication planning, poster design and production, and manuscript and abstract development, and work with the Medical Affairs team on advisory boards, medical information materials, congress support, medical education events and materials.

You should thrive in a fast-paced environment, be highly organised and able to manage project timelines across multiple projects, and be willing to step up and support your project team as needed.

Role

This role is suited to those with professional experience of typically no less than two years. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with the following experience:

  • Delivery of medical communications projects
  • Communicating directly with clients, including adapting to different communication styles
  • Day-to-day leadership of project teams, including delegating tasks and managing the time of others

Essential Requirements

  • A degree-level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1). We welcome applications from candidates with diverse specialisms, including biology, chemistry, pharmacy and medicine
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high degree of written accuracy
  • Excellent proficiency in written English and arithmetic
  • Strong scientific writing skills, with ability to tailor writing style to different audiences
  • Project management skills to enable timely project delivery
  • Excellent data presentation skills using Excel, PowerPoint and Word to produce professional, high-standard work
  • Technical and strategic knowledge to provide clients with recommendations on project content and approach
  • Ability to maintain exceptional customer service and quality of deliverables under multiple competing demands; experience in client communication and building robust client relationships
  • Ability to motivate colleagues and take a leadership role in delivering project components

What We Offer

The starting salary for the role is £42,000 to £46,000 depending on prior experience. Salary increases are awarded annually and on promotion, with discretionary cash bonuses paid twice per year.
