About the Role
Costello Medical is expanding its Medical Communications team and seeks a Senior Medical Writer who delivers high-quality content, manages projects, and builds long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects across publications (strategic publication planning, poster design, manuscript development, abstract production, etc.) and medical affairs (advisory boards, congress support, development of medical information and educational materials).
- Provide strategic input at project initiation, oversee delivery and ensure deliverables are produced to an exceptionally high standard and within agreed timelines.
- Review colleagues’ work and give constructive feedback to support team development.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships, identify opportunities to extend or enhance services, and support business development.
- Progress to greater client-management responsibilities, including budgeting and project finances, and line-manage interns.
Qualifications:
- At least two years of professional experience in an agency setting.
- A degree-level qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1). Diverse specialisms accepted (biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and high written accuracy.
- Excellent proficiency in written English and arithmetic.
- Strong scientific writing skills and the ability to tailor style to different audiences.
- Project-management skills enabling timely project delivery.
- Excellent data presentation skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Technical and strategic knowledge to provide clients with recommendations on content and approach.
- Capacity to maintain exceptional customer service and quality of deliverables under competing demands.
- Proven ability to build robust client relationships and motivate colleagues.
Benefits:
- A starting salary of £50,000 to £55,000 per annum plus profit-share bonuses paid twice per year.
