This unique role offers you the opportunity to work collaboratively with us to design and conduct a global health-related project relevant to your community. We will share our skills and knowledge in evidence-based medicine, research design, and medical communication to support you in delivering the project to maximise its impact.

Salary: A pro-rated salary of £25,800 per annum

Role Type: Full-time, temporary internship

Start Date: We are offering start dates throughout July, August, September and October 2026. Please see the application questions for full details.

Location: This role is available in our Cambridge office, with the opportunity to work from home one day per week.

This internship offers University of Cambridge Master’s students from low- or middle-income countries the opportunity to gain skills in evidence-based medicine by working on a healthcare problem which is relevant to their community.

Examples of projects include:

  • Conducting a systematic literature review to assess the effect of bereavement care for parents after stillbirth in Ghana
  • Developing an educational toolkit to improve the management of newborn infections in low- and middle-income countries
  • Assessing the cost-effectiveness of cervical cancer screening in Kenya

You will also have the opportunity to learn a range of technical skills relevant to your specific project approach.

Internship Dates:

  • 13th July to 25th September 2026 (11-weeks)
  • 10th August to 23rd October 2026 (11-weeks)
  • 7th September to 20th November 2026 (11-weeks)
  • 12th October to 18th December 2026 (10-weeks)

You will be asked to state your availability on your application form. This role will be based in our Cambridge office and you will be required to attend our office 4 days per week, with the option to work from home 1 day per week.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should:

  • Be a national of a low- or middle-income country, working or studying in a health-related profession.
  • Have recently completed a Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge.
  • Have an idea for a global health-related project which they would like to work on, including a well-considered project approach and plan to implement project findings back into local communities.
  • Be educated in a health or science-related subject.
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English and have good numeracy skills.
  • Be able to prioritise own tasks and workload.
  • Have a “can do” approach, and initiative, positivity and creativity.
  • Be able to work in a team and with an excellent level of productivity.
  • Have permission to work in the UK by the proposed start date and for the duration of the internship.
