Responsibilities: You will work on projects that involve the design and execution of a wide variety of real‑world studies, perform statistical analyses and communicate results to external stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
About the Role: Our Real‑World Evidence (RWE) team is growing rapidly and we are looking for an Epidemiologist to join our collaborative environment. The team designs, executes and reports on prospective, retrospective and cross‑sectional real‑world studies. Protocols, statistical analysis plans, data acquisition and analysis, and communication of findings in written and oral formats are core responsibilities. Projects include secondary analyses of patient registries and electronic health record databases, as well as primary data collection such as prospective cohort studies or patient/clinician surveys, covering a broad range of research questions around disease burden, clinical effectiveness and economics. You will work in project teams with colleagues from all service areas to ensure RWE projects meet high standards, are delivered on time and satisfy client expectations. Training will be provided in technical aspects, project management and client communication. After induction, you will progressively take on teleconference and face‑to‑face meetings with external stakeholders and could assume project management responsibilities in six to twelve months with close mentoring.
Requirements:
- Essential requirements for the role are:
- A degree level or higher qualification in a relevant subject is required (minimum 2.1 or above).
- Good understanding of epidemiological techniques, data analysis methods and statistical techniques sufficient to engage in discussions with our statisticians.
- Technical ability to explain complex methods and results to non‑experts.
- Working knowledge of the R programming language for large dataset analysis and willingness to rapidly develop programming skills.
- Willingness to test, explore or recommend new software or techniques suitable for specific projects.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, maintaining quality deliverables under competing demands.
- Excellent organisational skills with flexibility to respond to changing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
- Excellent written English; assessed during the selection process.
- Desirable requirements for this role are:
- A relevant Master’s or PhD would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with real‑world healthcare data sources in the UK or elsewhere is desirable but not essential.
Benefits: Starting salary of £42,000 with discretionary profit share bonus paid twice per year. 25 days’ annual leave plus bank and public holidays, and a holiday buy and sell scheme.
