About the Role: As a Motion Designer in our Creative team, you will be at the forefront of delivering diverse and intricate motion design projects for both our clients in the healthcare sector and the company. You will be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle, from initial concept development to full production, allowing for real autonomy and creativity. This involves early-stage collaboration with other designers, project managers, and clients to define the project scope and objectives. You will then produce high-quality motion design materials, providing technical insight and offering guidance as needed.

At Costello Medical, our Creative team is passionate about data visualisation and enhancing the communication of scientific content. We are also committed to supporting projects where we believe our skills can make a meaningful difference to healthcare. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to support not only commercial projects, but also pro bono work for charities and the public sector.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Motion Content: Creating a wide range of motion content, including complex 2D and 3D animations, detailed “explainer” videos, as well as interactive visuals for both internal teams and external clients.
  • Filming: Collaborating with project teams to plan and deliver small-scale on-site filming, ensuring high-quality video and audio are captured for post-production.
  • Video and Audio Editing: Supporting project teams with post-production video and audio editing for live and virtual events.
  • Strong Collaboration: Working closely with creative colleagues and project managers at the outset of projects to determine the design scope, purpose, and strategic approach to be taken.
  • Effective Communication: Clearly communicating project requirements to project teams and providing input on any technical queries.
  • Quality and Delivery: Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Exceptional Service: Providing outstanding customer service, building strong partnerships with internal teams and external clients.

Hybrid Working Policy: We believe that having face-to-face time in the office holds many benefits and is central to ensuring that the community we have created, where people have a workplace they belong to and feel part of, is never lost. At the same time, we recognise that homeworking can improve work life balance, reduce commuting times and costs, and provide the opportunity to juggle personal commitments. Therefore, we offer flexible working arrangements that allow our colleagues who have passed probation to work from home up to half their time, measured across a 2-week rolling period. During your probationary period (normally the first 6 months of the role), you will be able to work from home 1 day per week.

About You: We are seeking a motivated individual who can contribute innovative ideas to enhance our motion design service offerings. You will have a great understanding of aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail. You will also take pride in delivering a consistently exceptional service to both colleagues and clients within a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. This role requires a problem‑solving mindset, strong analytical skills, as well as an enthusiasm for learning new technologies to produce high-quality project deliverables.

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • A degree-level or higher qualification in a design‑related discipline (minimum 2.1 or equivalent), in addition to a highly innovative portfolio. We welcome applications from candidates with a diverse range of specialisms, including but not limited to: Motion Design, Animation, Visual Effects, Film and Media Production.
  • Extensive experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Proven experience creating animations and/or video editing for various digital channels.
  • Familiarity with other programs in the Adobe Creative Cloud, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as other motion-related software.
  • Some professional experience within an agency or commercial setting.
  • A problem‑solving mindset, and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, a high level of productivity, and the flexibility to adapt to changing deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build robust and sustainable working relationships.

Desired requirements for the role are:

  • Experience in filming, with knowledge of pre‑production and post‑production processes.
  • Experience creating 3D animations.

We welcome applications from experienced Motion Designers and those with a genuine interest in the healthcare industry who are looking to build a creative career in this field. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues who provide one‑to‑one training on technical aspects, project management, and effective client communication.

What We Offer: Alongside our award‑winning company culture, where every team member is celebrated, respected, and has their voice heard, we are proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • A starting salary of £28,000 to £33,000 per annum outside of London (£28,860 to £33,000 per annum in London), depending on your previous experience, as well as a discretionary profit share bonus paid twice per year. Please note that we have established salary bands to ensure a fair and consistent approach for all applicants, eliminating the need for individual negotiations.
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank and public holidays, as well as a holiday buy and sell scheme.
  • Flexible working hours and the chance to work from home for up to half of your working time after passing probation.
  • Flexible benefits scheme offering cash payments, additional pension contributions and more.
  • Private Medical Insurance which offers comprehensive cover on a “medical history disregard” basis.
  • Paid study leave and funding for external qualifications.
  • Critical Illness Cover, Income Protection and Life Assurance.
  • Paid and unpaid sabbaticals based on length of service.

The Application Process: You are required to submit your CV and a cover letter via our online application form. You will also be asked to provide a PDF portfolio or a link to your online portfolio. In your cover letter, you must explain why you think you would be suited to the role and why you would like to join Costello Medical, with examples to support both. Your CV should clearly state the dates of all qualifications and grades achieved, where applicable.

Our recruitment process includes a self-recorded video interview which will be reviewed by a member of the Talent Acquisition team. If successful, you will be invited to a final interview with senior members of our Creative team, which includes a portfolio review. Our standard recruitment process typically lasts around 2 to 3 weeks, however, this can be adapted if necessary.

As an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce and, throughout the recruitment process, there are a number of reasonable adjustments we can provide.

Please note that, whilst we embrace AI to innovate and improve processes, your role may involve working with confidential data that cannot be uploaded to AI. Therefore, it is important for us to assess your own skills and abilities, so we recommend that you do not rely solely on this technology to generate any application materials.

Visa Sponsorship: Please note that this role does not meet the eligibility criteria for visa sponsorship, and you will therefore need the right to work in the UK independently from the company.
