About the Role
As a Digital Designer in our Creative team, you will be at the forefront of delivering diverse and intricate digital projects for both our clients in the healthcare sector and the company. These will include the design, maintenance and testing of new and existing websites and web applications, the creation of interactive content for conferences and events, as well as the creation of digital marketing materials such as HTML emails, web banners and social media graphics. You will be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle, from initial concept development to full production, allowing for real autonomy and creativity. This involves early-stage collaboration with other designers, project managers, and clients to define the project scope and objectives. You will then produce high-quality design materials, providing technical insight and offering guidance as needed.
At Costello Medical, our Creative team is passionate about data visualisation and enhancing the communication of scientific content. We are also committed to supporting projects where we believe our skills can make a meaningful difference to healthcare. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to support not only commercial projects, but also pro bono work for charities and the public sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing Digital Materials: Creating a variety of user-friendly deliverables, including websites and web applications, interactive content for external events, marketing materials, and other design pieces for both internal teams and external clients.
- Strong Collaboration: Working closely with creative colleagues and project managers at the outset of projects to determine the design scope, purpose, and strategic approach to be taken.
- Effective Communication: Clearly communicating project requirements to project teams and providing input on any technical queries.
- Quality and Delivery: Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
- Exceptional Service: Providing outstanding customer service, building strong partnerships with internal teams and external clients.
Hybrid Working Policy
We believe that having face-to-face time in the office holds many benefits and is central to ensuring that the community we have created, where people have a workplace they belong to and feel part of, is never lost. At the same time, we recognise that homeworking can improve work life balance, reduce commuting times and costs, and provide the opportunity to juggle personal commitments. Therefore, we offer flexible working arrangements that allow our colleagues who have passed probation to work from home up to half their time, measured across a 2-week rolling period. During your probationary period (normally the first 6 months of the role), you will be able to work from home 1 day per week.
About You
We are seeking a motivated individual who can contribute innovative ideas to enhance our digital design service offerings. You will have a great understanding of aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail. You will also take pride in delivering a consistently exceptional service to both clients and colleagues within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role requires a problem-solving mindset, strong analytical skills, as well as an enthusiasm for learning new technologies to produce high-quality project deliverables.
Essential Requirements
- A degree-level or higher qualification in a design-related discipline (minimum 2.1 or equivalent), in addition to a highly innovative portfolio. We welcome applications from candidates with a diverse range of specialisms, including but not limited to Digital Design, Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, Media and Communications, Computer Science and Art.
- Some professional experience within an agency or commercial setting.
- Technical knowledge of email/web/application development, including practical experience with HTML and CSS.
- Experience applying UI/UX design principles across a wide range of digital deliverables.
- Good working knowledge of Figma, or a strong desire to learn.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Familiarity with other software in the Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
- A problem-solving mindset, and the ability to think outside the box.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, an excellent level of productivity and the flexibility to respond to changing deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build robust and sustainable working relationships.
Desired Requirements
- Practical understanding of Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
- Search engine optimisation (SEO) and generative engine optimisation (GEO) experience.
- Knowledge of omnichannel marketing and a flair for creative copywriting.
- Familiarity with basic JavaScript.
We welcome applications from experienced Digital Designers and those with a genuine interest in the healthcare industry who are looking to build a creative career in this field. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues who provide one-to-one training on technical aspects, project management and effective client communication.
