Overview
As a Section Engineer on a major water framework, you will oversee the execution of a specific project section to meet Costain’s contractual and programme obligations. You’ll work on site in Cumbria, coordinating with clients and subcontractors to deliver safe, compliant, and quality-focused works. You’ll feed progress into the section programme, maintain site records, and ensure proper temporary works and approvals are in place. This role combines engineering rigor with hands-on site leadership to support AMP8/AMP9 delivery in the North West. You will join a collaborative team delivering essential water and wastewater assets with impact for customers and communities.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of elements of the works in line with contract and programme
- Ensure works have approved RAMs and necessary permits
- Oversee temporary works process and checks
- Brief workforce and ensure they have required information
- Collaborate with client to support site delivery
- Contribute to weekly/monthly programme for your section
- Maintain daily site diaries for your section
- Ensure assurance, ITPs, and check sheets for permanent/temporary works
- Oversee safety and quality inspections
- Coordinate with site supervision to ensure safe and timely execution
Key requirements
- Degree/HNC in engineering subject
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Vocational Training with Graduate Engineer level experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Understanding of engineering principles
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
- Some civil/mechanical construction experience
