Due to continued growth, the position of Site Engineer has become available to join a large HV Transmissions project in Plymouth. At Costain, our Energy Sector helps our customers transition to clean energy while providing practical solutions to improve the efficiency, sustainability and resilience of existing infrastructure. We focus on delivering engineering, construction and digital solutions to support the UK’s transition to a low‑carbon economy.
Navenby is a critical new infrastructure project to enable connections to the new Springwell Solar Farm and Battery Storage (BESS) projects alongside seven large embedded customers. The primary purpose of a civil site engineer is to ensure that construction projects are completed accurately and safely. They provide technical advice, manage staff on‑site, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Site engineers are responsible for overseeing all civil on‑site activities to ensure they align with the project’s design, specifications and legal requirements. They also manage daily site activities, solve problems that arise during construction, and help keep the project running smoothly from start to finish.

Responsibilities:
- Managing a package of site works / subcontractors.
- Ensuring that site surveys and records are provided as required.
- Working with project managers, site managers, supervisors and suppliers to coordinate, develop and review safe system compliance and other daily processes.
- Ensuring all on‑site activities are recorded through daily diaries, production control schedules and photographs.
- Reviewing drawings and raising technical queries relating to the design team.
Essential Qualifications:
- HV Transmissions experience.
- Understanding of engineering principles.
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
- Some civil / MEICA construction experience.
- Design Management experience.
- Relevant CSCS Card.
- Full clean drivers licence.
- Civil engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc, MSc, BEng, Meng).
- Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme - SSSTS (CITB).
- Safety Passport CCNSG.
- SHEA Power.
- Persons Substation (NG).
- First Aid.
