Overview
In this role you will lead the development and continuous improvement of the SCS Planning Function, enabling project delivery and governance. You will partner with cross-functional teams to standardise planning, reporting, and digital tools, driving planning excellence and a unified ‘One Planning Team’ culture. You will oversee Clause 32 processes, programme governance, and data-driven reporting enhancements, including AI and Power BI integration. This is a strategic, transformation-focused position within Costain’s delivery organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the SCS Planning Strategy and Improvement Roadmap
- Align planning processes with the Delivery Unit structure and governance
- Shape Clause 32 processes, programme governance, and reporting frameworks
- Develop modern planning solutions and digital reporting capabilities
- Collaborate with IT/Data teams to enhance Power BI, data warehouse integration, and planning automation
- Drive planning transformation, lessons learned, and cross-functional collaboration
- Facilitate planning workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide trusted advisory support on planning strategies to Head of Planning
Key requirements
- Significant planning and project controls experience in major infrastructure
- Extensive NEC contracts and programme management knowledge
- Experience in Clause 32 submissions, programme governance, change management, PMO integration, risk management and reporting development
- Advanced Primavera P6 capability
- Experience developing planning standards and procedures
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls or similar discipline
