Traffic Management Operative - Newcastle

Job Description
Costain Area 14 Maintenance & Response (M&R) framework team are looking for hire a Traffic Management Operative to ensure the safe and efficient implementation of high-speed temporary traffic management (TTM) systems, enabling roadworks and maintenance operations to proceed in compliance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual (TSM), industry standards, and company policies.

To install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management systems on high-speed roads, ensuring safety for road users, workforce, and the public.

Adhere to detailed traffic management plans, risk assessments, health & safety, quality and environmental procedures.

  • To install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management systems on high-speed roads, ensuring safety for road users, workforce, and the public.
  • Adhere to detailed traffic management plans, risk assessments, health & safety, quality and environmental procedures
  • Install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management equipment as per traffic management plans and Chapter 8 guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment to industry and company standards.
  • Conduct site-specific risk assessments and ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Follow safe working practices to protect yourself, colleague, and the public.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
  • Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn and maintained as per company standards.
  • Ensure the worksite is safe, secure, and compliant with specifications throughout the operation.
  • Perform daily inspections of signage, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve operational goals.
  • Communicate with supervisors, colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of traffic management services.
  • Adhere to Chapter 8, National Highways Sector Schemes, and other relevant standards for high-speed roadwork traffic management.
  • Ensure all equipment and activities are compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training and development programmes, including NHSS certifications, to maintain and improve competence.
