Transport for London (TfL) are one of Britain's key city Local Authorities, responsible for the city's infrastructure which includes Highways, Major Structures, Rail, River Transport and supporting technology. Many of their assets are reaching their end-of-life status and require substantial remedials or full refurbishment. Additionally, TfL are keen to embrace modern technology to reduce carbon and energy requirements and deliver a sustainable, clean city.
Costain supports TfL in their expansion and sustainability under a number of frameworks and is one of their major providers. With exciting new projects for TfL Rail such as South Kensington Upgrade and Step Free Access, the role involves supporting the Contract Environmental functions, providing and supporting Environmental solutions, and enabling the Contract/Operational Teams to implement the Group SHE Management System.
Key tasks will involve:
- On site support
- Running sustainable workshops with all stakeholders for delivery of sustainable outcomes
- Liaising with client, supply chain, and contract teams to achieve E&S outcomes
- Implementation of the E&S management system across the framework
- Support in pre-mobilisation ensuring necessary environment assessments and risk reduction have been undertaken
Essential qualifications include an Environmental Degree or equivalent and PIEMA or equivalent (working towards MIEMA/CEnv). Desirable qualifications include over 5 years relevant Environmental experience in the relevant industry and MIEMA CEnv or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and influence Contract Leadership Team, Clients, and other Stakeholders in compliance with the Group SHE Management System and Contract Environmental Performance
- Support and where required deliver training to allow the contract team to successfully implement the Group SHE Management System
- Coach and support the Contract Operational and Supply Chain Contractors in the delivery of the Contract Environmental requirements
- Actively support the delivery of the annual Contract and Group SHE Objectives
- Engage with the Contract Environmental Assurance programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements
- Support the timely reporting, analysis, and use of Environmental data to support and influence the Contract Leadership Team
Experience required includes Environmental related experience, with significant relevant Environmental experience in the relevant industry being desirable.
