The purpose of a Section Engineer is to oversee the execution of a specific section of a project, ensuring that all engineering tasks are completed to the required standards.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivery of elements of the works on the framework and ensure these works are carried out in line with Costain contractual obligations and in line with the construction programme.
  • Ensure that all works under your control are covered by an approved Rams and have the relevant permits in place.
  • Ensure the temporary works process is followed and that works have the correct level of temporary works check and permits in place.
  • Ensure that the workforce and subcontractors that are under your control are fully briefed and they have the required information to carry out the works effectively.
  • Work with the client to support their needs and facilitate the effective delivery of the works on site.
  • Ensure that you feed into the weekly/monthly programme for your section of works and record site activity effectively.
  • Ensure that site diaries are completed daily by your team for your section of works.
  • Ensure that assurance, ITPs and check sheets are in place for any permanent works or temporary works.
  • Ensure that safety and quality inspections are carried out for your works.
  • Work with site supervision to ensure they have the required information to carry out the works safely and in line with the current programme.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

  • Understanding of engineering principles.
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
  • Some civil/mechanical construction experience.
  • Design Management experience.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/HNC level qualification in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Vocational Training (successful experience at Graduate Engineer level).
  • Full UK driving licence.
