As a Junior Cost Engineer you will be responsible for providing cost management and will monitor, control, and forecast the costs during the Project lifecycle.

You are required to be commercially focused, confident in running your own project as well as working effectively within a team. You will be joining a growing team working on a variety of contracts and will be required to undertake short‑term commissions to address a variety of customer needs. Candidates with a track record of cost management at pre‑ and post‑contract, working on contracts through the development cycle to the delivery through the construction phase, will be preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control, monitor, analyse and report cost related aspects for designated projects within a portfolio.
  • Ensure all cost and contract transactions on a project are understood and managed in an appropriate way.
  • Liaise with project team members and contractors with regards to progress and cost forecasting.
  • Monitor, control and analyse the project cost information, identify variances, and bring these to the attention of the Commercial Manager/Project Controls Manager.
  • Highlight and resolve disallowed costs in applications for payments.
  • Assist in the month‑end and CLR process.
  • Collate and prepare applications for payment for the client.
  • Monitor and approve timesheets on a weekly basis.
  • Check and process invoices.
  • Approve expenses.
  • Assist the site buyer.
  • Purchase items on the company credit card and reconcile monthly statements.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Understand the inter‑relationship between time, cost and commercial aspects of the project cycle.
  • Experience across the whole project and programme lifecycle.
  • Excellent MS Office skills and well‑versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

DESIRABLE

  • Working knowledge of Primavera.
  • Experience in the use of finance and project software.
  • Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or suitable experience.
  • Experience in a similar role.
