Overview
You will develop and govern a programme of Internal Works, ensuring on-time, on-cost delivery in line with standards and policies. You will lead the supply chain to meet contract objectives and act as a key liaison with senior local authority stakeholders. You’ll optimise Internal Works LDPs to support business goals while maintaining high safety and customer-service standards through audits and continuous improvement. You will also lead, mentor and engage the Internal Works team, manage incidents and customer queries, and support operations with mobilisation and incident investigations. This role shapes delivery across Cadent CMO in the East of England within Costain’s smart infrastructure,
Responsibilities
- Develop and programme work to ensure projects are issued, monitored and delivered to cost and time
- Manage supply chain performance to meet contract objectives
- Advocate for the contract with senior local authority representatives
- Manage Internal Works LDPs to optimise operations and deliver business objectives
- Ensure high customer service and safety standards for Internal Works LDPs, with assurance from audits and inspections
- Support operations with MOBs
- Support Area Manager and Head of Operations in identifying improvement opportunities
- Manage Internal Works Managers as direct reports per policy (attendance, performance reviews)
- Maximise staff engagement via team talks, toolbox talks, safety briefings and team briefs
- Investigate and resolve customer queries, claims and complaints promptly
- Undertake or assist in incident reporting, investigations and closure of remedial actions
- Monitor operatives’ performance and foster a culture of teamwork and safety (zero tolerance of breaches)
- Carry out standby and call-out duties as required
- Carry out other reasonable duties as appropriate
Key requirements
- Experience in the gas industry
- Experience in Site Supervision (utilities)
- Gas Safe registration
- CCN1, MET1, SMSTS, Asbestos, PEB1
- SHE requirements and safety leadership
- Ability to manage internal works processes for the CMO and LDPs
- Conduct inspections (Gas Safe Engineer) and desk-top inspections (10 per week)
- Investigate and resolve customer enquiries and complaints
- Undertake incident investigations and implement changes
