Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering 5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 – 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the North West and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities. Projects vary in value, covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners. Your unique skills and experiences could be exactly what we need. #LI-KP1HNC, HND, or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline) ECS / CSCS Card High standard of written and spoken EnglishFull UK Driving LicenceChartered or working towards professional accreditation (e.g. IEng/CEng)Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the design, review, and implementation of electrical systems for project requirementsReview technical documentation, drawings, and specifications Undertake material selection and prepare associated technical approval and acceptance documentationEnsure compliance with relevant standardsProduction of quality documentation, such as ITPS and installation verification check sheetsIdentify, assess, and manage technical risks, supporting effective problem resolution Support assurance, quality, and safety processes throughout the project lifecycle Interface with installation and construction teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with site requirements Provide engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning activities Other ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the immediate Engineering team to coordinate requirements and programme delivery Liaise with the procurement team to ensure appropriate electrical equipment is specified and sourced Maintain close coordination with Design, Safety, and Planning teamsPromote and support the implementation of Costain values and behaviours across the projectKnowledge, Skills, and ExperienceEssentialsExperience in electrical engineering within the Water industryStrong understanding of electrical design principles and relevant standardsExperience working within a main contractor or major project environment Sound knowledge of electrical installation practices and associated equipmentDesirableKnowledge of SCADA, M&E systemsFull timePosting Date: 2026-08-14
