Assistant Finance Manager – Job Description
The role will report to the Divisional Senior Finance Manager, as well as supporting and working closely with the Sector Finance Business Partner.
The Assistant Finance Manager will be key to providing quality insights and information to the SFM and have exposure to the Divisional Finance Director through reviews of Overhead budgets and monthly contract reporting.
Responsibilities
Divisional reporting

  • Ownership of Divisional reporting models, including integrity checks and key variance analysis vs forecast
  • Support SFM on drafting of key analysis for monthly divisional reporting pack
  • Reconciliation of underlying E1 TB to Group Management accounts
  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliation files for NR controlled subsidiaries for Senior Finance Manager review and follow-up actions
  • Ownership of Divisional overhead budget, including reporting and drafting quarterly forecast for SFM review
  • Preparing and posting of standard journals, (accruals, prepayments and standard recharges/cost allocations) in line with accounting policies and accurate cost allocation
  • Invoice posting across NR statutory entities, ensuring compliance with Costain Group policies
  • Support key stakeholders across divisional leadership team with any supplier queries or issues
  • Support Senior Finance Manager in drafting of Overhead insights for monthly divisional reporting pack

Sector support – Energy and Defense

  • Support FBP with roll-forward, completion and integrity checking of the monthly CLRs in both sectors
  • Collate and submit monthly CLRs for both sectors in accordance with relevant group timelines
  • Reconciliation of sector management accounts to group reporting system
  • Support FBP in completion of monthly Sector Finance and Commercial Review slide decks including analysis, data displays and quality checks

Other

  • Maintenance of sound financial processes and controls, in line with Group guidelines, ensuring that all applicable requirements are always met
  • Support Divisional and Sector teams with ad-hoc cost/financial/commercial matters or analyses
  • Support Senior Finance Manager for internal and external audits
  • Review and participate in Head Office initiatives and systems development where possible
