To aid the work package manager on all dry dock and berth activities, this post is responsible for helping the WPM in planning, monitoring and managing projects and supply chain from initiation through to completion in alignment with the PEP and regulatory requirements. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the manager's ability to influence both within and outside of their team and supply. They secure the supply chain required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes. The role involves managing teams and the supply chain to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs.
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer CEng/Chartered MAPM or equivalent professional status or working to NEC qualification or equivalent NVQ.
- Must have proven track record of delivering FRC (civils) projects in all aspects in both self‑delivery and subcontracting models ideally.
- Experienced in using different falsework and formwork types.
- Has experience in working in the role of TWC/TWS and understands the permit to load and unload process.
- Understands CDM and has experience in designing out risk in relation to both permanent and temporary works/full life cycle of project.
- Has experience in managing reinforcement detailing.
- Can read and understand, work with reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules.
- Has experience in setting out and knows what’s needed for geospatial control and monitoring.
- Understands usual snags when it comes to a final shutter pour, surface prep of shutter, construction joint preparation.
- Understands material approvals/concrete design mixes.
- Experience in getting approval for all FRC sundries, reinforcement (CARES) and concrete mix designs (Nuclear would be great not essential).
- Also experienced in post‑concrete checking in relation to cover meter surveys.
- Has experience with common practices for fixing issues and repair (hydro demo) when things go wrong.
- Experience in delivering FRC structures through full life cycle to delivery, handover and maintenance.
- Has experience with lifting and is ideally an AP appointed person for lifting.
- Has proven track record of working on projects with high logistical constraints but always delivered.
- Has experience in working with structural steel in addition to FRC.
- Experienced in structural design and delivery of managing design of structural steel to steel and steel‑to‑concrete connections, welding types, what’s needed and testing.
- Experienced in subcontract management of FRC subcontractors from developing tender scopes to contract award.
- Managed pre‑start meetings/readiness reviews, HAZID, weekly meetings, KPI reporting, and management of cost and programme ideally using NEC 3/4 and option A/C contracts.
- Familiar with and has used P6, Cemar, AutoCAD/micro station.
- Has been party to the development of construction management plans and has managed stakeholder buy‑in of the plans.
- Understands all common H&S practices and governance needed for FRC and working with structural steel ideally.
- Some experience delivering services/MEP elements in conjunction with FRC desirable.
- Has worked with behavioural safety techniques and managed them and practiced them.
