The Group Property Department is responsible for the operation, control, maintenance, and oversight of all real estate and physical properties within Costain. The role of the Telephonist is to efficiently and professionally route incoming telephone calls to the appropriate person or department within Costain. This involves answering and directing calls, taking messages, and providing information to callers as needed. Additionally, the Telephonist may assist with administrative tasks and Reception duties. Overall, the goal is to ensure a smooth and effective communication within Costain and with external parties.
Responsibilities- Receive incoming calls from outside the company and answer them promptly and in a professional, friendly and polite manner.
- Evaluate and identify the nature of the call, provide any requested information and direct the call via Microsoft Teams to the requested person or appropriate department.
- Keep records of calls and maintain directory of contacts.
- Support the Site based Office Manager and Reception team as required.
- Proven experience as a Switchboard operator or telephonist.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
