This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Civil & Structural Engineer to join our growing team of 130+ Civil & Structural Engineers and Designers. Our department covers a range of projects from Concept Studies through to Detailed Design, providing a variety of interesting work. Industries can range across Water, Transport and Energy including Green Energy, Nuclear and Oil and Gas.
Working under supervision or guidance, the fundamental requirement of this role is to work with our existing design team, including supporting the development of feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications and proposals for key local and regional clients in the Nuclear and Defence markets, mainly in the Northwest. In this hybrid role, you will be based in Manchester (office attendance typically 2-3 days a week) with occasional visits to other offices and site.
Key Responsibilities- Take responsibility for small projects and sub tasks from a technical perspective.
- Support Senior and Principal Engineers.
- Prepare, under supervision, preliminary and detailed design analysis, calculations, specifications and related documentation for civil and structural works.
- Communicate designs effectively to the BIM teams.
- Communicate effectively with other disciplines and construction teams.
Essential: Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements of the discipline. Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and of HSE requirements.
Desirable: Some experience working within the nuclear industry. Experience with new and historic structures, including optioneering assessments.
QualificationsEssential: Minimum BEng Civil or Structural Engineering. Actively progressing chartership with ICE or IStructE. Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance - British National or 5 years UK residency.
Desirable: Nuclear Industry recognised training and qualifications. Currently holding Security Clearance. CSCS or CCNSG.
