An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious finance professional looking to progress their experience within a FTSE listed construction business with a track record of delivering high profile infrastructure projects. This is a critical role within the R2R function that involves collecting, processing, validating and presenting accurate financial data, whilst also providing strategic, financial and operational feedback on the performance of the company to senior management. The role will be involved in setting up and development of the R2R processes, supporting the Head of Finance Shared Services and providing delivery of day-to-day finance activities.

The role includes exposure to senior management of the group and other central finance functions, providing an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your ability for further advancement.

Responsibilities
  • You will be strong in your accounting capabilities being responsible for the financial reporting and output of the team ensuring accuracy and timeliness to tight deadlines.
  • You must be able to identify risks and opportunities to steer improvement to the R2R processes to enable the business to drive forward.
  • Be commercially aware to convey financial information to a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
  • It is essential that you have strong leadership skills, be able to co-ordinate, direct, coach and develop a large team.
  • The primary responsibilities of this role are:
  • Management & development of 3 direct reports and 10 indirect reports.
  • Manage and review the day-to-day operations of the R2R team, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of an effective business control framework in line with business expectations.
  • Manage & review the month end accounting close incorporating accruals, prepayments, fixed Asset accounting and reporting flash numbers, ensuring the production of robust and timely financial results and support the business partners with their reported numbers for all entities, identifying and finding resolutions for all risks.
  • Lead the governance of the Group Recharges, ensuring supplier meetings are held, Group recharge workbooks are reviewed, iCostnet is maintained so all documentation is accessible & assist in the accurate control of client recoverability for the project accountants.
  • Work with the Commercial teams to ensure full understanding of how the different contracts work, understanding the different charge out rates and working with the wider finance teams to influence understanding and changes if necessary.
  • Lead the delivery of the Balance Sheet Reconciliation & Control processes for all entities, to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the general ledger to support management and statutory reporting.
  • Drive standard processes through principles of simplification, standardisation, and, working with the wider teams, automation where appropriate.
  • Lead the delivery of any external returns and statements managed by the R2R team.
  • Ownership and setting the overall R2R efficiency, reporting targets and KPI’s to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support Head of Financial Shared Services with risk areas both in the team &/or process control.
  • Support Ad-hoc projects including system developments where necessary.
Experience
  • Well documented experience in a similar finance systems role.
  • Management, development and co-ordination of large teams essential.
  • Proven experience of process and systems optimisation, particularly from an R2R perspective.
  • Demonstrate track record of experience in managing cashflows and working capital management.
  • Working with Oracle Enterprise One, or similar ERP system desirable.

  • Where necessary, provide reasoned advice on how to monitor, analyse report and advise on project cashflows and profitability, and advise on any financial implications and appropriate management actions.
  • Identify process weaknesses and provide practical solutions.
  • Understands the purpose of internal controls and ensures they are followed.
  • Ability to challenge the process / procedure and recommend improvements to suit business aims.
  • Identify procedure and process areas that can be improved through implementation of technology to increase productivity, reduce cost and improve accuracy.
