Job DescriptionThe Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water\’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.
As a Lead Civil Engineer for SPA, you will provide technical direction to the engineers in your discipline for clean water infrastructure (Infra) and non-infrastructure (Non-Infra) projects. You will provide design support for numerous schemes and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
You will be responsible for the checking and reviewing of civil deliverables produced by other civil engineers within SPA and/or our supply chain to ensure the correct processes and procedures are followed.
The Lead Civil Engineer will monitor workload and liaise with Design Leads and other discipline designers as part of this role. In your section, you will be responsible for design output, information flow and consistency of approach. Within your immediate team lead the detailed design elements of Civils pipelines, pump stations and/or break tank design. Other design elements typically associated with a Non-Infrastructure site would include drainage and highway design and security fencing, although each scheme will have its own design challenges, so a varied understanding of a variety of civils engineering disciplines is preferred.
This role will not be required attend the Peterborough office regularly, but be available to attending 2-3 days attendance over 5-6 weeks.
Responsibilities
Work closely with team members to ensure project requirements are met.
Strong technical understanding of civils Non-Infrastructure design (preferably clean water).
Take ownership to deliver design and associated activities in your section of the SPA programme of works.
Liaison with Temporary Works Design.
Understand the importance of design interactions with delivery, procurement and commercial teams.
Work closely with the Client, understanding the project requirements and the ability to challenge Client asset standards/proven designs where applicable.
Involvement in the interfaces with our GI, Utilities and Environmental teams.
Support the Engineering teams with pioneering ideas to gain efficiencies.

Mentoring graduate and junior engineers in developing their technical knowledge and understanding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and have a track record in design of a section of the works.
Experience of design elements typically associated with a Non-Infrastructure site, would include drainage and highway design.
QualificationsEssential
Civil engineering degree or equivalent.
Chartered in engineering or equivalent background.
UK Driving Licence.
