We are looking for experienced Project Quantity Surveyors to drive the commercial management of major infrastructure projects within our Energy business. The role focuses on ensuring optimal contract recovery, robust financial management, and compliance with company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Commercial Manager/Senior Commercial Manager.
- Lead and develop the efficient and effective management and issuance of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and opportunities for the Project Director/Manager.
- Prepare monthly progress valuations and claims within deadlines.
- Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts and contract budget reports.
- Liaise with the customer’s commercial team.
- Ensure implementation of company commercial policies and procedures.
- Maintain registers of variations, delay, extensions of time applications and claims.
- Record pre‑contract tender negotiations and reports where necessary.
- Review value management and advise on risk management.
- Prepare, review and complete sub‑contract documentation.
- Plan change management and cost control.
- Agree interim applications for payment.
- Agree final accounts with sub‑contractor.
- Manage sub‑contracts from initial placement of order to final account.
- Monitor and update procurement plan, sub‑contract procurement and conduct commercial comparisons.
- Produce requisition and award letters.
- Reconcile weekly plant, material, labour against budget.
- Assist with and produce change reports and value change report forms for the main contract.
- Report on matters relating to insurances relevant to the project.
- Understand the implications of health, safety, and environmental regulations and bring any risk situations to the attention of the Contract Leader/Project Manager.
Qualifications
- Post‑graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with a demonstrable track record of achievement.
- Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen.
- Practical, logical, and methodical approach to work.
- Extensive experience establishing and operating office management systems, including filing, document control and distribution.
- Extensive experience producing technical minutes at contractual meetings and compiling reports, payment certificates, interim financial reports, and closeout reports.
- Extensive experience drafting effective contractual correspondence and facilitating collaborative solutions.
- Experience developing and implementing procurement and contract strategies.
- Proven negotiating and team‑working skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrable legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
- Confidence and ability to assert influence.
- Full membership of RICS or CICES (or working towards).
