Costain have won extensive work across the water sector to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We are working with United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering £5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 - 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 - 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the North West and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities.

Projects vary in value, covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners. Our latest project win (commencing September 2026) is 3 wastewater schemes in the Windermere area. These schemes are at Bowness-on-Windermere, Hawkshead and Grasmere. All 3 schemes are at outline design / feasibility stage and will focus on reducing Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) spills. Project scopes involve the construction of below ground storage tanks, replacement of existing storm screens, caustic dosing, ferric dosing, works return pipework.

Responsibilities

We are now seeking expressions of interest from candidates wishing to develop their careers in the water sector and join our growing delivery team in the Cumbria region. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates of all levels across various disciplines including:

  • MEICA - Mechanical/Electrical engineers
  • Project Management - Construction Manager, Project Manager
  • Site Delivery - Site/Senior Site engineer, Site Agent, General Forepersons, Works Manager
  • Commercial - Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • SHE - SHE/Senior SHE Advisor
