Overview: The role is to lead construction operations to ensure all elements are delivered safely on time and budget, as well as compliance with client and legislative specifications. The role will act as Principal Contractor. The role will be accountable for ensuring the Construction Team liaise with the Contracts Manager, client, sub-contractors and other trades, coordinating all aspects of the works so that the projects are completed in line with the requirements, within budget and on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide construction leadership and manage all aspects of construction.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with The Costain Way.
  • Put safety above all else and lead by example.
  • Promote Right First-Time approach to quality and avoid rework.
  • Manage a team of staff and collaborate with other members of the project leadership team.
  • Support the Project Manager in all construction matters including handover.
  • Provide planning and procurement support, implementing product control and all related subcontract activities.
  • Acting as Principal Contractor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of standards and procedures.
  • Experience of working within a Principal Contractor environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of Temporary Works procedures.
  • CSCS & SMSTS qualifications.
  • Behavioural Management training.
  • Knowledge and experience in construction.
  • Experience as a Lean Practitioner.
  • Understanding of handover process.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualification.
  • Nuclear license site delivery experience.
  • BPSS security clearance.
  • Chartered Engineering Qualification.
