Job Description
This role supports Costain for the Reactor Height Reduction Project at Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) Trawsfynydd Site, based in North Wales. The four year project will involve the partial demolition of each RB’s, reducing the overall height and reducing the current asset management liability. In addition, an extensive package of civil new build and remedial works will be delivered prolonging the durability of the retained structures.
A first of its kind for the Nuclear Sector; this challenging and exciting project which includes a wide supply chain will significantly reduce the uncertainty associated with the current condition of the reactor buildings and lessen the visual impact caused by the Reactor Buildings on the Snowdonia National Park.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the project’s procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented on site.
- Coordinate TW design with TW Designers and Checkers.
- Ensure that the various responsibilities have been allocated and accepted by the relevant parties (Designated Individual, TWS and Construction team etc.)
- Manage and maintain Temporary Works Register is up to date and that a design brief is prepared by the site team Lead on the development of Temporary Works standards solutions.
- Review Temporary Design Brief and organise TW Design Kick-off with Designer when required.
- Maintain all records relating to the final design of the Temporary Works including drawings, calculations and other relevant documents.
- Build trust and good relationship with Construction site team and TWS
- Establish and maintain the Project Temporary works management System and ensure compliance.
- Assess and appoint temporary works supervisors
- Establish and lead a temporary works forum for highlighting best practice and lessons learned.
- Ensure Technical risks are identified, recorded and steps are taken to mitigate or eliminate
- Produce and deliver design briefs with the team and source an approved design (Examples include temporary hoardings, scaffolding)
- Input into the detailed design reviews and advise of temporary works requirements and solutions
- Support procurement of contractors with assessment of their temporary works capabilities.
- Ensure lessons learnt from incidents and outside learning are shared and embedded on the project.
- Review with the project team categorisation for the Temporary Works.
- Conduct site stakeholder walkdowns with subcontractors to assist in the development of Temporary Works Design.

- Excellent knowledge temporary works methods and process
- IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office
- High level of communication skills in both written and spoked format
- Able to communicate at all levels
- Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools and techniques
- Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure
- Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management
- Effective personnel management skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of implementing a digital system for temporary work permits and inspection.

Qualifications
- Incorporated or Chartered professional of a relevant body.
- Valid CITB TWC qualification
- Valid SMSTS training
- Relevant CSCS card is desirable
