Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme with contracts valued up to c.£670m to Costain over 15 years. Reporting into the Head of Planning / PMO, the Risk Manager will be fully integrated and embedded into the framework with a remit to ensure that the project teams meet their risk and opportunity management challenges through improved risk practice and awareness.
You will be responsible for management of the implementation and ongoing assurance of governance and any contract specific requirements. As a commercially astute Risk Manager, you will work in collaboration with stakeholders at scheme and framework level and you will identify, analyse and develop responses to project risks & opportunities, taking ownership and responsibility. You will play an important role in developing a positive risk and opportunity culture within the framework. By embedding and championing best-practice risk and opportunity management tools and techniques across the allocated programmes, you will enable a timely, efficient, safe and customer-focused delivery.
Responsibilities- Ensure risk mitigation measures are progressed in response to EWN's Draft and update the contract Risk Management Plan.
- Manage risk and continuously develop the risk and opportunity register into a management tool containing accurate and relevant information for reporting purposes.
- Risk identification, qualitative and quantitative analysis, contractual allocation and preparing action plans.
- Manage the Risk and Opportunity Register.
- Carry out risk and opportunity workshops as and when required.
- Risk and opportunity reporting, ensuring information is consistently accurate and relevant.
- Develop, implement and oversee effective and credible risk response and risk mitigation plans.
- Ensure that the senior management team are sufficiently sighted on and familiar with the project risk and opportunity position.
- Act as a conduit for the escalation of risk or failure to obtain opportunities in line with established processes.
- Be prepared to challenge risk and opportunity owners and other individuals on their response to risk and securing opportunities.
- Contribute to the continual improvement in risk processes and the continual development of a risk mature culture across the project.
- Produce risk and opportunity reports and dashboards in line with project requirements.
- Skilled and experienced in NEC project and programme management and risk management methodologies.
- Skilled and experienced in the use of risk and opportunity management systems and tools.
- Strong verbal, written and presentational skills with a high level of analytical and numerate skills.
- Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills working in a team environment.
