Costain helps to improve people’s lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures. Costain is working with Thames Water on a variety of water and wastewater projects and has fantastic opportunities for individuals to join our growing AMP8 delivery team, working predominantly across the Thames Valley and Thames South regions. The role involves a mix of projects ranging from smaller capital maintenance to large civil new build schemes. We are looking to expand the MEICA team with a MEICA Lead for the Oxfordshire area. Responsibilities

  • Managing allocated MEICA engineers ensuring work is undertaken safely in accordance with Company Procedures, specifications, Quality, program and good working practices.
  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all MEICA activities from design through to scheme final completion.
  • Reporting of MEICA activities and progress to the relevant C&DLs/Program Managers.
  • Assisting C&DL & Program Manager in the selection and allocation of MEICA resources.
  • Providing Technical & Quality support for Project M&E Site Managers.
  • Management of M&E subcontractors to ensure they meet safety, program, quality and design requirements.
  • Management of allocated subcontractors/packages.
  • To oversee the production of detailed plans and designs of works and to ensure that works are undertaken in a cost effective and technically efficient manner.
  • To manage activities in accordance with the programme in a safe and efficient manner, specifically: ensuring all work is conducted safely in compliance with current company policies and legislation.
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and that all operational staff have appropriate competencies and certificates to undertake works.
  • Monitoring performance to ensure all objectives are met and problems are anticipated and resolved.
  • Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods across the programme.
  • Ensure that records for completed job packs are submitted in accordance with current procedures.
  • Ensure that processes are in place to minimise disruption to customers and deal effectively with any complaints concerning our works.
  • Be part of the senior management team.

Essential – Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Ability to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs and measure success.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer with several years managerial experience.
  • Commercial/business qualification.
