Due to significant growth in our water sector, a Senior Proposals Manager role has become available to join our delivery team, working on the United Utilities (UU) Water Complex Delivery Partner (CDP) Framework. Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by UU to the CDP Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme over the next 5-10 years. Reporting to the Framework Project Director you will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop technical and commercial proposals for water and wastewater projects, whilst also working with peers across the wider water sector as part of a Customer Solutions function, sharing resource and knowledge as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage the development of commercially and technically efficient solutions that meet the customer’s needs and requirements.
- Build strong internal and external relationships and help to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Work alongside the Framework management team to ensure proposals are in line with company governance procedures, whilst providing support to the estimating team on technical requirements.
- Develop the Tender Programme, monitoring progress and ensuring milestones are met.
- Lead and manage reviews of customer enquiry documentation and complete scope gap reviews.
- Co‑ordinate the wider proposals and project team (including SMEs) to understand, identify and provide mitigations to challenges, risks and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualified or equivalent in an Engineering or Commercial related discipline.
- Proven track record and knowledge of the UK municipal Water/Wastewater or other regulated process driven sector(s).
- Proven experience of developing and creating proven solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively manage time and priorities to achieve deadlines.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Comfortable presenting at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Comprehensive knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Contractual awareness (incl. NEC, IChemE).
- Experience in managing stakeholder, including client, relationships.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Significant experience of the water and / or utilities sector.
- Experience of working within a multi-discipline engineering environment & ability to make decisions when needed.
- Knowledge and appreciation of sewage treatment processes, water treatment processes and pumping systems.
- Hold a current relevant CSCS Card.
- Hold a current relevant Blue Card.
- Proven experience in Tender / Bid Management / Design management.
