We are looking for a Junior Planner to join our Cadent project in Marks Tey, Essex on an 8 month fixed term contract

Cadent is the UK’s largest Gas Distribution Company owning and operating four of the eight UK Gas Distribution Networks across the East of England, London, North West and West Midlands; spanning over 131,000 kilometres of pipes.

Cadent transport gas safely and reliably to 11 million homes across their networks and operate the Gas Emergency Helpline for the whole of the UK. Costain is appointed as the Construction Management Organisation to manage the planning and delivery of the annual network investment programme for the East of England Network.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and plan Streetworks activities with operational teams and local authorities
  • Submit permit requests to local councils and highway authorities via Street Manager or equivalent systems
  • Working closely with local authorities, facilitating of opening and closing of permits using streetworks systems whilst ensuring that all aspects of the TMA (Traffic Management Act) are met
  • Regularly liaising with local authorities; helping to build lasting relationships
  • Assisting management with challenging / resolving any FPNs received for completed works
  • Ensure planned works are properly recorded, resourced, and allocated in line with deadlines and permit requirements
  • Ensure all SLA’s and KPI’s in relation to planning are met
  • Maintain accurate records within CMS of all notices, permits, and work statuses
  • Communicate permit conditions, traffic restrictions, and start/stop notices to field teams
  • Use specialist software (e.g. Street Manager, Symology, Aurora) to manage workflow
  • Issue daily, or monthly reports on works progress, compliance, and permit status where required
  • Flag permit breaches, overruns, or potential FPNs for corrective action

Qualifications

  • Excellent personal discipline, planning and organisational skills
  • Strong Time keeping
  • Problem-solving mindset, with an ability to resolve challenging situations diplomatically.
  • Flexibility to monitor multiple roles at a time, able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experienced in the use of Streetwork permitting system – StreetManager
  • Good knowledge of the New Roads and Streetworks (NRSWA) and Traffic Management Act (TMA)
  • IT literate, comfortable using MS Office and customer management systems.
  • Proactive work ethic and comfortable in challenging the team in order to implement savings to the programme and explore and propose mitigations
  • Proven experience of Primavera (P6), Excel or MSP (desirable)
  • Proficient in the interpretation of estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk tools
  • Relevant experience in project controls and/or project delivery
  • Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of Streetworks and Streetworks systems such as Street Manager
