Overview

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. The Enabling (EIA) Coordinator is responsible for the assessment of environmental constraints and associated risks on the interconnector projects. Leading a team of environmental specialists, you will coordinate the production of EIA Screening and Scoping Reports, as well as Environmental Statements and associated planning application deliverables. Reporting to the Lead Enabling Coordinator, the Coordinator will be responsible for communicating environmental findings to the design, engineering and construction teams. Working with the Lead Enabling Coordinator, the Coordinator will regularly review the level of risk to project delivery and environment, working collaboratively with the design, engineering and construction teams to reduce consenting and environmental risk on projects to an acceptable level. This role will be flexible and remote working. Attendance required at the Peterborough office only when required for team meetings, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance on environmental aspects of projects and related activities in support of engineering and construction teams.
  • Support the Area T&C Planners by conducting tasks related to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) screening and/or scoping opinions, Environmental Statements and planning applications.
  • Perform project delivery activities such as completing risk assessments, advising on survey requirements, reviewing and communicating survey results.
  • Understand and manage risks to the environment and project delivery.
  • Work in a collaborative way with engineers, construction teams and external stakeholders to deliver schemes on time, on budget and with minimal environmental impact.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained.
  • Ensure completion of a full Induction to H&S in accordance with Company policies, procedures, standards and/or guidance.
  • Ensure adherence to safe working practices including completing audits in line with schedule.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with the Working Time Directive.
  • Ensure you are compliant with the use of mandatory safety monitoring equipment, near miss reporting and compliance with the company procedures.
  • Maintain H&S standards to enable a zero-accident culture.
  • Actively work with your team, line manager and the H&S Team to improve upon H&S procedures where possible.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Experience in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) packages (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo) for geoprocessing and visualisation of data.
  • Experience in managing the environmental assessment of large works programmes.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level with a BSc or MSc in Geography, Environmental Science or Earth Science (minimum 2:1 at degree level).
