Costain are working with Thames Water on a variety of water and wastewater projects and have fantastic opportunities for individuals to join our growing AMP8 delivery team, working predominantly across the Thames Valley and Thames South regions. There is a mix of projects ranging from smaller capital maintenance to large civil new build schemes. We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer (MEICA) to join the Thames Water Framework. At Costain, we believe diverse perspectives drive innovation. Responsibilities

  • Oversee commissioning and systems integration activities across the project lifecycle.
  • Configure and calibrate analytical equipment; integrate with monitoring systems.
  • Provide progress and status reporting to the Core Management Team.
  • Review and approve RAMS for commissioning activities.
  • Supervise and inspect subcontractor installations, ensuring compliance with quality standards and ITPs.
  • Manage installation activities and produce documentation for project close‑out.
  • Lead Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) in line with ITPs.
  • Coordinate commissioning plans and ensure completion of all associated documentation.
  • Deliver training to operations teams on new process plant and equipment.
  • Act as front‑line supervisor during commissioning and installation phases.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and timely delivery of commissioning activities.
  • Mitigate risk of delays, quality issues, and non‑compliance.
  • Duties cannot be effectively redistributed due to specialist technical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Organise and prioritise work.
  • Programme management experience.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate commissioning tasks within a larger project framework team.
  • Identify risks and implement control measures.
  • Follow health and safety and environmental legislation, regulations, and practice; e.g., apply control measures, wear PPE, harness, gas detector and breathing apparatus required for the task.
